#Poetry Break: blessing the boats

Silence (M.A. Reilly, Maine, 2015)

blessing the boats

(at St. Mary’s)
may the tide
that is entering even now
the lip of our understanding
carry you out
beyond the face of fear
may you kiss
the wind then turn from it
certain that it will
love your back may you
open your eyes to water
water waving forever
and may you in your innocence
sail through this to that

  1. May you in your innocence sail through this to that. My question is do we still have our innocence? That is something to ponder. I would like to think that I still have a trusting open heart. There are still places in me that are soft and haven't hardened or powdery, just simply blown away. YOU?

    1. Innocence isn't the only driver of kindness, outerward concern. I have no doubt I have a deep commitment to other. It defines my work. The question of innocence though is a grid one. I have seen things I would like to not have known. It has made me feel sadness and also wisdom. Nothing arrives singularly. It's what we chose to make of it. How brave are we? Love is impossible for me to turn a deaf ear to.

    2. Love trumps all. I have learned this through this journey....I continue to love despite all. By the way....you must come to Maine to collect more images!
