And Heaven's Not Far: Photographic Musing and My Father

This is a lake by where I live.  When the weather turns just a bit cooler, there is almost always fog early morning and on some days I am able to watch the sun burn through that fog.  On the day I made these images it would have been my father's 95th birthday.  I'd like to believe that along with the fog and light, I captured his beautiful spirit.

The landscape shifts, emerges and heaven's not far.

Happy birthday, Da.

The Last Images Rescued from My iPhone Before it Died

Door (M.A. Reilly, 3.12.12)
The last images that I rescued after my iPhone fell into a lake this morning are represented in this video.  I was out making images at a botanical garden this morning.  On my way home I stopped by a lake near my home and walked out on a very narrow dock. I wanted to shift from taking images with my iPhone to using my Nikon.  As I went to put the phone in my pocket it slipped out of my hand and fell into the lake.

Need I tell you how cold lake water is in March?  Well I rescued the phone, went home, and was able to download the images.  The phone died after the download.

Here's a look:)
