The Familiar Falling Away

Some months ago I was speaking with Monika Hardy (@monk51295) and she said to me, "You need to make a book about rhizomes."

Well I thought about that for several months.

Really.

And now I am pleased to announce that my new photography book, The Familiar Falling Away, has just been published as an ebook for iPad/iPhone and is also available as a physical book (12" square).

The book is a visual exploration of Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari's (1987) concept of the rhizome. Through black and white images and a few sparse words, I situate the concept within the everyday.  I made the black and white images in the United States, Ireland, and Tuscany from 2008 through 2011.

Here are a couple of page spreads from the book.

Hope you will take a look.  The entire book is available for preview.
